75 years of
manufacturing.

Seventy-five years of manufacturing expertise. From paper to thermoforming, from production growth to dematerialisation.

Abstract shapes opening progressively from a shared origin, evoking growth and development.

Seventy-five years, four stages of growth

A legacy built through expertise, investment, and the ability to anticipate change.

01

1951–1981

Manufacturing roots

1951
Policarta is founded. Dr. Guido Braghini establishes the company, initially specialising in soft-paper cushions for the confectionery industry.
1960s
Entry into plastics. Paper processing is joined by the production of thermoformed plastic trays and containers.
1981
Production expansion. The company expands its plastics processing facilities and strengthens its position in packaging.
02

2001–2010

Identity, scale and quality

2001–2004
The Plastpack name is introduced. The company's identity evolves, culminating in the adoption of the Plastpack name.
2003
Our product range launches. Vanity Tray® is introduced: our own range of plates and trays for foodservice, bakeries, catering and parties.
2004
The new warehouse. A new two-storey warehouse opens, directly connected to the production area.
2008
ISO 9001 certification. The quality management system is certified to the ISO 9001 international standard.
2009–2010
Solar energy. The buildings' roofs are upgraded with solar installations for a combined output of about 140 kWp.
03

2021–2023

Building industrial strength

2021
Certified food safety. Plastpack obtains ISO 22000 certification for its food safety management system.
2021–2022
Production expansion. The acquisition of a business unit expands the equipment base and production capacity, including new thermoforming, packaging, and labelling lines.
2023
Joining B4H. Plastpack joins the Swiss holding company B4H SA, opening a new phase of consolidation and growth.
04

2025–2026

A new industrial era

Less material. Fewer steps. Greater value.

For Plastpack, dematerialisation goes beyond making packaging lighter. It means removing what adds no value: excess material, redundant operations, duplicate production steps and organisational handovers that increase resource use, lead times and complexity without improving the product.

This calls for a more considered design of both the packaging solution and its supply chain. Plastpack retains manufacturing, design and quality oversight of strategic activities, bringing in the specialist expertise and technologies of qualified partners where this improves efficiency. The aim is to avoid duplicating in-house processes that partners can deliver more efficiently.

We assess every process as a whole. We directly manage core capabilities and coordinate complementary activities through a manufacturing network. Less overlap, greater specialisation and one point of accountability for the final result.

Material efficiency

Optimised shapes and thickness use only the material needed.

Lean processes

Fewer operations, transfers and duplicated steps that add no value to the product.

Integrated expertise

Our teams and qualified partners form one coordinated manufacturing network.

Retained oversight

Plastpack retains responsibility for design, quality, safety and the final outcome.
